Personalized design exercise

After spending countless hours grinding through the original Destiny, I decided to work on my design skills be creating a mini boss fight. I used this opportunity to work on my other skill sets including 3D art, rigging, animation, screenplay writing, and Voice Over!  This exercise took me about 2 weeks in total. You are welcome to download the entire exercise below or read through the documents on this page!  Please enjoy!

An introduction to the mission. I modeled, textured, rigged and animated the ghost in 3D Studio Max. From there, I exported the animation out as a .PNG file, and overlayed it onto captured footage in game using Adobe After Effects. All video editing was constructed in After Effects.

Overview

Tagline

Enter the homeworld of the Cabal to extract information on the new gate along with other valuable intel.

Backstory

The Cabal on Mars have found a way to reverse engineer the gate to the black garden.  It’s believed that this was the real reason the Cabal settled on the Red planet in the beginning.  This could be a prime opportunity to infiltrate the Cabal home world, and steal as much information on the mysterious alien species.

Mission Objectives

  1. Enter the Helm of the Empire and hack the central computer in the core mainframe.

    1. Locate and extract data from the Cabal servers

  2. Kill Comel Kru’ Lasse [Objective will update when Comel spawns]

    1. Eliminate Comel Kru’ Lasse and his troops.

Walkthrough

(Please use 2D Image or 3D Max file to follow along)

The player will enter in through Doorway H.  Upon entering, the hotspot icon will update to the main computer.  The player will be prompted by the Ghost to interact with hotspot in order to retrieve the data.  Once the player has interacted with the computer console, an alarm will sound and enemy waves will spawn.  The player will fight through two waves of Sky Burners.  After eliminating waves 1 and 2, the ceiling blast shields will open up revealing a Harvester.  Comel Kru Lasse will jump from the Harvester, initiating Wave 3.  Once all enemies are eliminated [with the exception of Comel], wave 3 reinforcement waves will activate.  Reinforcement waves spawn upon death of final enemy within wave parameters.  After the final enemy in a “reinforcement wave” is eliminated, a timer of 30 seconds will begin.  Upon reaching the 30 second timer, the next wave of enemies will engage the player.  Reinforcement groups A and B will toggle between each indefinitely until Comel Kru Lasse is terminated.  [AI counts are located on all 3D Max file and map graphic].

Comel Kru’ Lasse Mechanics

Due to his advanced jet propulsion technology, Comel is incredibly agile compared to his Colossus counterparts.  He not only has the ability to jump from platform to platform, but can also use his jet packs to strafe quickly and rush the player, aggressively.  The jet packs also allow for Comel to hover in mid air for a duration of 5 seconds to launch a barrage of tracking missiles across the arena.
